We are all Inter-related! Mindfullness Coaching for working as a team!

I'm an avid reader and currently enjoying "11 Rings" by Phil Jackson, widely regarded as the greatest coach ever. The book emphasizes mindfulness over ego, prompting introspection when faced with ego-driven challenges.

The Buddha said that the primary cause of suffering is our desire for things to be different than for what they really are. One moment, things are going our way and in the next they are not.

When we prolong pleasure or project pain we suffer.

How do we eliminate this type of suffering? By following the Noble Eight Fold Path

  1. Right View

    • Involves looking at the game as a whole and working together as a team. Like 5 fingers on a hand.

  2. Right Thinking

    • Means seeing yourself as part of a system rather as your own one man band.

  3. Right Speech: 2 parts

    • Is talking positive to yourself. Don’t get lost in back talk. Stop thinking about all the things you dislike, rather focus on the good and how the challenges force us into our purpose.

    • Controlling what you say when you’re talking to others especially your team. Focus on giving them positive feedback.

  4. Right Action

    • Making moves that are appropriate to what’s happening instead of repeatedly show boating or acting in ways that disrupt team harmony.

    • Stay the course!

    • When you you’re getting frustrated, place yourself on mute, take a deep breath and just listen to the person on the other side. Sometimes there isn’t a need to respond, sometimes you’re just there for support.

  5. Right Livelihood

    • Having respect for work you do and using it to heal the community rather than to simply polish your ego. Be humble!

    • If you were the one receiving the call, how would you like to be treated?

    • Would like to be heard and validated? Rather than talked down to or made to feel crazy.

    • We are all human beings looking to be heard and understood.

Quote by Martin Luther King

In a real sense all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an in escapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the inter-related structure of reality.

  1. Right Effort

    • Being unselfish and exporting the right amount of energy to get the job done. Theres no substitute for hustle, if you don’t hustle you’ll get benched.

  2. Right Mindfulness

    • Coming to every game with a clear understanding with a plan to attack. Including what to expect from opponents. It implies with playing with precision, making the right moves at the right time. And, maintaining constant awareness throughout the game whether you’re on the floor or on the bench.

  3. Right Concentration

    • Is about staying focused on what you’re doing at any given moment not obsessing about mistakes you’ve made in the past or bad things that might happen in the future.

In summary, be kind to one another. We are all going through something and how beautiful is it when someone can ease your pain and suffering by extending their hand in support.
