As the founder of The Vine Advisors and a single mother, I've discovered that my personal healing journey is intricately connected to my purpose and leadership within any company.
I've had the opportunity to collaborate with various corporations, and one observation that stands out is a lack of strong leadership and individuals who often seem to be working solely to meet their financial obligations. It appears that many are not deeply motivated by how their career aligns with their personal sense of purpose or calling.
I've personally experienced moments when my ideas were not in harmony with a company's objectives, and it led me to wonder when I might find a workplace where my contributions align seamlessly, allowing me to thrive and wholeheartedly contribute to their mission.
People's resistance to change appeared to stem from a fear of losing their positions and a lack of trust in the individual proposing the idea. It seems they were apprehensive about not being included in the collaborative process of bringing about significant change. Perhaps there was also a concern about not receiving the recognition and appreciation they deserved. Perhaps it was my approach.
To shift my perspective, I've begun viewing work as a path to help each team member discover their true calling. My aim is to create opportunities within my company and others to infuse daily purpose, fostering motivation, energy, growth, happiness, and longevity.
However, I've faced challenges in persuading those in positions of influence to embrace change, possibly due to the fear of personal adaptation.
This mindset emphasizes the importance of ongoing alignment with one's purpose, which, for me, is helping others create and thrive. It requires prioritizing mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being, both internally and externally, as well as the energy we allow into our lives.
Building a strong team involves staying open-minded when not everyone shares your ideals and not succumbing to the fear of the unknown, especially in the face of adversity. It's essential to remain focused on the end goal and true purpose.
